Candle Making Supplies: Additives
Candle making additives
may be used in your wax to improve the appearance or burning qualities
of the finished candle. The recommended amounts listed below are to be
used as guidelines and may need to be adjusted depending on the type of
wax used and the characteristics you're trying to achieve. |

Vybar 103

Candle
making additive for
pillar candles and votives. For wax melt points above 130°F. Will
enhance scent and color, help
eliminate bubbles, and prevent
mottling. Recommended usage is 1/2 - 1
tsp. per lb.

Vybar 260

Candle
making additive container candles and
votives. Similar to
Vybar 103, but for wax melt points under
130°F.

Stearic Acid

Candle
making additive for molded candles. Increases
firmness, improves burning quality,
and aids mold release. Meltpoint
165°F. Recommended usage is 3-5
tablespoons per lb.

Luster Crystals

Candle
making additive for molded candles. Improves
color and gloss, makes wax more
opaque, aids mold release.
Meltpoint 195°F - melt separately.
Recommended usage is 1/2 - 2 tsp
per lb.

Translucent Crystals

Candle
making additive for molded candles. Increases
hardness while retaining the natural
translucence of wax. Ideal for
hurricanes and embedded candles.
Meltpoint 215°F - melt separately.
Recommended usage is 1/2 - 2 tsp per
lb.

UV Inhibitor

Candle
making additive for all candles. Helps
prevent color fading. Meltpoint 165°F.
Recommended usage is 1/8-1/4 tsp per
lb.
